Bidding Prayers
Pentecost Sunday - prayers of the faithful
Introduction (by the Presider) Conscious of the Spirit praying within us, let us present our petitions with confidence:
- That the Spirit of God may renew the face of the earth (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That the Spirit may put new life into Pope Leo and all the bishops (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us..
- That the Spirit may bring peace to the nations (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That the Spirit may defend poor and starving people (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That the Spirit may guide young people doing exams (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That the Spirit may bring healing to the sick (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
The Presider prays for the dead: That the Spirit may raise to life those who have died (especially N & N), and lead all the faithful departed home to heaven (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
Conclusion (by the Presider) God our creator, your Spirit brings us to life and sustains us: hear the prayers we are inspired to make, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
